Rome Health Welcomes Kathryn Chilluffo, CNM, MS to Mohawk Valley Women’s Health Associates

Rome Health is pleased to welcome Kathryn Chilluffo, CNM, MS, a board-certified nurse midwife, to Mohawk Valley Women’s Health Associates, where she provides  comprehensive women’s health services including gynecology and obstetrical care across the lifespan. Chilluffo joins a team of highly respected providers at the practice, which was established in 1996 by Dr. Ankur Desai and Dr. Lauren Giustra. Chilluffo is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment at the Rome office at Chestnut Commons, 107 E. Chestnut St., please call 315-334-9663. To schedule an appointment at the New Hartford office, 1 Paris Road, please call 315-797-866.

With over nine years of nursing experience, Chilluffo brings a deep foundation of clinical expertise, compassion, and continuity of care to her role as a certified nurse midwife. A native of the Mohawk Valley, she chose to return to the region to expand access to midwifery care for women and families.

“I chose to return to this community because I truly love the area and felt called to help expand access to midwifery care for women and families in the region,” said Chilluffo. “It’s an honor to support women through every stage of life — from adolescence to menopause — with the personalized and holistic approach that midwifery care offers.”

Chilluffo began her healthcare journey at Herkimer College, followed by an associate degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing. She advanced her education with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Capella University, and went on to earn her master’s degree from Thomas Jefferson University, where she became a certified nurse midwife.

“As a mom to a two-year-old boy, I understand firsthand the emotional and physical challenges that can come with pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery,” said Chilluffo. “It's so important for mothers to have a safe space to talk about things like postpartum depression and not feel judged. I want my patients to know they’re not alone — and that support is available.”

In addition to providing prenatal care and attending births, certified nurse midwives are licensed to offer a full range of women’s health services. Chilluffo can order routine screenings such as mammograms, write prescriptions, and make referrals for surgical procedures or management of high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with physicians.

“Midwifery is about forming a partnership with each woman to support her health goals,” Chilluffo said. “Whether it’s a routine check-up, birth control options, pregnancy care or hormone replacement therapy options, I believe in shared decision-making — where patients are informed, respected, and involved in every step of their care.”

For more information or to schedule an appointment with Kathryn Chilluffo, CNM, MS, please call 315- 334-9663 in Rome or 315-797-866 in New Hartford.
