Rome Health Earth Day a Success

The staff at Rome Health took some time on Earth Day to walk the main campus grounds of Rome Health at 1500 N. James St. to clean and pick up any trash or litter that was left over from the winter thaw. Over 30 staff and family members of Rome Health cleaned up the main campus along with the Chestnut Commons property located on 107 E. Chestnut Street.

President and CEO of Rome Health, AnneMarie Walker-Czyz explains why it is so important from the hospital’s standpoint to make sure everyone takes a moment to help keep our community and environment clean. “Our staff and leadership at Rome Health express how important it is to make sure that our campuses and our environment reflect how much we care about our mission and we work hard to embody it.” She goes on to say, “Rome Health continues to find new ways to save on energy and reduce the waste that a hospital can create. From sorting metal out of our trash to installing energy efficient lighting throughout the hospital, Rome Health makes every effort possible to keep our community and environment as clean as possible.

Rome Health is part of the “Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful” (KMVB) initiative which is a six-county, NYS affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful program. The program is run through the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District Inc. Each year, Keep America Beautiful affiliates like KMVB, engage more than 4 million volunteers in more than 20,000 communities nationwide.

The goal of KMVB is to collect over 6,000 bags of trash from now through the end of July. Anyone who is interested in registering a clean up can do so through the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District Inc website.

The clean up at both Rome Health and Chestnut Commons which took place from 8:30 in the morning to noon. The efforts from the staff took in over 36 bags of trash.
