  • Rome Health to Host Community Open House on May 29

    Rome Health is excited to welcome the community for a special Open House Thursday, May 29, offering guided tours of the hospital’s newly completed Main Entrance, Intensive Care Unit, and Kaplan Center for Surgical Services. Tours will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., starting at the hospital’s new main entrance at 1500 N. James St., Rome. This event provides a first look at the transformative changes underway at Rome Health as the hospital prepares for the anticipated summer opening of the new facilities, pending final approval from the New York State Department of Health.  The new ICU and Main Entrance will open first, with the Surgical Center following a month later.

    Rome Health is pleased to welcome Kathryn Chilluffo, CNM, MS, a board-certified nurse midwife, to Mohawk Valley Women’s Health Associates, where she provides  comprehensive women’s health services including gynecology and obstetrical care across the lifespan. Chilluffo joins a team of highly respected providers at the practice, which was established in 1996 by Dr. Ankur Desai and Dr. Lauren Giustra.     With the installation of the Kaplan Center for Surgical Services signage, Rome Health has reached a significant milestone in its capital project to modernize surgical services and intensive care. The newly placed signage serves as a symbol of how close the hospital is to opening Phase I of its state-of-the-art facility this summer. The milestone highlights the final stretch of Rome Health Foundation’s $16.5 million fundraising campaign, with just $1.2 million left to raise. Community support is critical now more than ever to close the funding gap as the hospital prepares to open the new main entrance, Intensive Care Unit, and Kaplan Center for Surgical Services.

    As part of its commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and team members, Rome Health will implement the Evolve Express weapons detection system this summer and designate specific entrances for access to the facility. This initiative comes at a time when healthcare organizations across the country are responding to a rise in workplace violence and security concerns within medical settings. Carrying weapons is not permitted on any Rome Health campus.

  • Rome Health Expands Cardiac Services with Two Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Exams

    Rome Health is excited to announce the expansion of its cardiac diagnostic services with the addition of two advanced imaging exams: CT Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring and Nuclear Medicine Cardiac Amyloidosis Imaging. These cutting-edge tests will enhance our ability to detect and diagnose heart disease at earlier stages, offering patients in our community improved access to cardiovascular care. CT Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring is a non-invasive imaging test that measures the amount of calcium buildup in the coronary arteries. This exam provides valuable insights into a patient’s risk for coronary artery disease, helping to guide preventative care and treatment strategies before symptoms develop. This exam is currently offered on a self-pay basis of $125, payable at time of services.
